AGM 2026

On 2nd October 2026, the group gathered for the AGM and there was lots to celebrate, such as the group events from the past year, each sections trips, and the hundreds of badges awarded! One of the youngest members, a Squirrel was also invested, along with a Scout.

A few of our members achieved the highest awards for their section, 1 Beaver was awarded the Bronze Award, 3 Cubs the Silver Award and 1 Scout the Gold Award.

Well done to all the children for earning their badges, and for the volunteers, and parents for all their support throughout the year.

GLV report for 2026.

As we reflect on the past year, the Scout group has made significant strides in various areas. A particularly noteworthy achievement was the group camp at Bexon Lane, where Squirrels camped for the first time. This experience allowed our youngest members to engage with the Scouting ethos in a hands-on way.

We also had a fun day celebrating the Squirrels, Beavers and Cubs birthday landmarks, where each section designed part of the celebration badge.

All sections of the group are thriving: we currently have 17 Squirrels, 13 Beavers, 16 Cubs and 16 Scouts.

Excitingly, just two weeks ago we opened our own Explorer Scout unit, the 5th Sheppey Merlin Explorers, which has already welcomed six members. This expansion into Explorers offers our young people new opportunities for growth and adventure. We also successfully secured a grant for a robot hoover and mop to assist with housekeeping, making it easier for our volunteers to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our leaders, volunteers and trustees for their unwavering support and dedication. Their hard work ensures the smooth running of our activities, fostering an enriching environment for our young members.

As we look forward to the next year, we remain committed to nurturing the skills and interests of our Scouts and continuing the strong tradition of community spirit that defines our group. Thank you to everyone involved for making this year a success, and we anticipate another fruitful year ahead.
